Have you ever sat on a mattress and had something roll to you? Your body creates a gravity well on the mattress and pulls objects to you.
A similar effect occurs when we engage our attention onto a focused point. If it’s a problem, solutions begin to appear. If it’s a question, answers begin to bubble up. I call this, “putting your thumb down.” As in pushing your thumb into the mattress.
I’ve heard of people who have responses to practicing this that are supernatural- similar to “The Secret” and its predecessor of positive visualization. But mostly I believe what’s occurring is that we’re fully engaging our brains and altering our behavior in a way that harvests more options from our environment.
Our normal mode is to address tasks and move on. But at any given stage of your business there are key issues that will have an outsized impact on your growth.
What are the three biggest obstacles holding your growth back today?
Which of those three would make the most difference if you focused on solving it? If you tracked it continually? If you regularly grappled with it?
Where could you put your thumb down?
“Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and you shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened to you…”
